4 Blood gameplay and story review

Atrás 4 Sangre

(Image credit: The Game Awards) Back 4 Blood puts you in the shoes of one of eight customizable "cleaners," a group of grizzled veterans who have banded together to fight the catastrophic epidemic that has killed or infected the most of humanity. You will have to fight against parasite-infected monsters known as Ridden, which come in different shapes and sizes that will require different strategies to defeat them. The game can be played solo or with up to three friends online or with AI-controlled teammates, and includes a cooperative story campaign. Back 4 Blood also features a 4v4 PvP mode where you can play as a Cleaner or Mounted. Both sides come with unique weapons and abilities, which should make for some interesting gameplay encounters. Developer Turtle Rock Studios also states that Back 4 Blood offers "extreme replayability" as no part is the same due to changing environments, hazards, and placement of enemy types. The game's dynamic "Game Director" ensures that there will be plenty of variety and more difficult legions of Ridden to contend with as you play. The game's rogue-lite card system will also create new experiences as you play - you can jump right in with a pre-made deck or dive into Back 4 Blood's extensive customization options.

- Greater resistance to equipment trauma. Known simply as "Doc," this housekeeper sacrificed her social life for a career in medicine. That means she's an amazing doctor, even if her attitude at her bedside leaves a little to be desired. Plus, she's more than capable with a gun in hand, making her the perfect teammate against the Ridden. Mother
- Instant resurrect
- Support Inventory +1
- +1 extra life from equipment Mom never shied away from a challenge and took on a new responsibility when the apocalypse struck. Outspoken and fiercely stubborn, she wants revenge after losing her child.

Return 4 Blood Enemies

Atrás 4 Sangre

(Image credit: WB Games) There will be eight types of Ridden to survive against in Back 4 Blood, each one posing a unique threat to you and your team. Here's a look at the disfigured villains you'll need to take down in Back 4 Blood. snitcher
The Snitcher will emit a deafening scream when it becomes severe, causing a new horde of Ridden to appear. Shut up before I scream, or you might regret it. Great guy
An intimidating sight, the Tallboy stalks his victims, but can quickly close the gap by running forward at high speed. If the Tallboy gets close enough, watch out for his huge club-shaped arm as he will try to pulverize you and your team. Aim for its weak point, the shoulder, before it can take a hit. reeker
You will probably smell this smell before you see it. The Reeker is a large but slow enemy that explodes to death. Just make sure you keep your distance before it explodes as Reeker will fire players and cover you in sticky pus. Sting
You will need to stay calm when a Stinger appears. This Ridden can go through many surfaces and has a tendency to stick to shadows. If he manages to immobilize you with his (raw) phlegm, you'll need a teammate to take you out or use an escape card. We will update this section as more Riddens are announced.

Will Back 4 Blood have cross-play?

Turtle Rock hasn't confirmed if crossplay will be included in Back 4 Blood, but the developer has confirmed cross-platform support on their official Discord (via GameWatcher). Crossplay support would be a great addition to Back 4 Blood, as the playerbase wouldn't be unnecessarily separated by platform and would ensure the game always had a healthy number of players.
