Arcane Season 2 could be the end of Vi and Jinx's story

Arcane Season 2 could bring the curtain down on Vi and Jinx's story, and fans of the hit series aren't prepared for that possibility.

Fans began speculating online about the chances of this happening after the release of the latest episode of Bridging the Rift, a five-part YouTube series charting the development of Arcane over six years. The first season of the League of Legends (LoL) anime series, which debuted on Netflix in November 2021, was acclaimed by all fans and critics, winning numerous awards throughout 2022.

Unsurprisingly, another entry, Arcane season 2, is on the way, though there's no timeline as to when the next installment of Netflix's best series will arrive. And while League and Arcane creators Riot Games have teased a few things about the series' second season in Bridging the Rift, it's the possibility that Vi and Jinx's story will end after Arcane Season 2. what most interests the fans.

Speaking in the final minutes of Bridging the Rift Episode 5 (Opens in a new tab) (jump to 33:10 to hear it for yourself), Riot co-founder Brandon Beck said: "The fact that we can get through five hours in Piltover and Zaun then do it again in a second season, before you start to focus on that little corner of the world and that handful of characters, just the possibility that space is so wild."

As exciting as it is for Arcane to open up the world of Runeterra, the world in which Arcane and League of Legends take place, in future seasons, fans have raised concerns that one more season of Arcane might not be enough time to finish Vi and Jinx's story

Speaking to Reddit after watching episode five, several Arcane and LoL fans said that despite having full confidence in the Arcane creative team, they were concerned about whether two seasons would be enough to fully explore Vi and Jinx's complex relationship. .

Reddit user Vernitzsche (opens in a new tab) wrote that they "can't figure out how they're going to do all of this in a way that doesn't seem rushed," adding that the show also had to consider character development for the cast. Arcane's secondary, like Ekko, Caitlyn and Viktor.

Meanwhile, Anxious_Mango_4589 (opens in a new tab) said that "one more season doesn't really seem like enough time to finish everything, and the idea of completely changing the focus within the same show really bothers me." Opposite Direction." Redditor POWDERed_Jinx (Opens in a new tab) agreed, saying it was "disturbing" and that they want a "really good ending" for the duo. Bloom_after_rain (Opens in a new tab) added that they were " conflicted" with the prospect of saying goodbye to Vi and Jinx after just two seasons, while ThuBiejaMan (opens in new tab) said that ending the Piltover/Zaun story after two seasons would be silly, given that Riot has yet to introduce "half of the region's champions."

Other fans are less concerned. DawnSennin (opens in a new tab) wrote that they have "absolute faith" in the Arcane showrunners, whether or not Season 2 marks the end of Vi and Jinx's journey. Spyrothefox (opens in a new tab) said moving to other Runeterra regions and heroes "sounds good to me", while EternalPain791 (opens in a new tab) suggested that Piltover and Zaun could remain key locations in future seasons, Which means we could meet Vi, Jinx and co. again.

Redditor _harleys (opens in a new tab), however, claimed that everyone was simply reading Beck's comments too much. It's a great possibility: Beck could have teased the possibility of introducing more heroes and territories to Runeterra in Arcane, but the story of Vi and Jinx would continue to be the main narrative thread of the series.

We reached out to Riot Games and Arcane's external PR team for clarification on Beck's comments. If we receive a response, we will update this article accordingly.

Arcane Season 2 has yet to receive an official release date, but Riot CEO Nicolo Laurent previously confirmed that it won't arrive until 2023 (opens in a new tab). However, based on footage clips and other comments made throughout Bridging the Rift, it looks like Arcane Season 2 could be with us in the first half of 2023, rather than the second.
