Apple will no longer integrate this crucial element into some of its new products

Apple has revealed that a key item will be missing from some of its new products: a USB power adapter. The iPhone and Mac maker revealed the news at its Apple Watch 6 and Apple Watch SE launch event this week, noting the move was another step in its push to address environmental concerns with its products. This means that the new Apple Watch devices revealed by the company will not come with a USB power adapter like they did in the past.

It remains to be seen if Apple will expand this move to cover some or all of its other products as it continues its environmental campaign. The company is expected to launch its next smartphone, the iPhone 12, next month with the latest device to be packaged without a USB power adapter or wired EarPods for the first time. Apple's move will mean that customers looking for a new charger or a replacement charger will have to buy directly from the company or one of its authorized business partners. This can prove to be an expensive option for some users, as the Apple Watch's current USB-C magnetic charger cable retails for $29 / £29 on the company's online store, and a charging cradle. Magnetic Apple Watch that earns you €79 / €75. Apple has taken several green steps in recent months, revealing in July 2020 that it plans to be carbon neutral by 2030. The company has introduced a number of measures to reduce environmental impact in its supply chain and operations as part of a 10-year roadmap to reduce emissions by 75% and develop carbon removal solutions for the rest of its footprint. Apple already uses clean energy to power its global facilities and has obtained similar commitments from 70 suppliers. In addition to increasing that number, Apple will also develop low-carbon product designs, launch recycling initiatives and reduce its own electricity needs. Via 9to5Mac
