Is Apple Finally Working on a ChatGPT Rival?

AI has been in the headlines in recent months, with the chaos surrounding the release of AI writer ChatGPT sparking subsequent releases by rival AI systems like Google's Bard and Anthropic's Claude, to name a few.

With Microsoft strongly backing OpenAI and even Meta looking to prioritize AI over Metaverse, that only leaves Apple as the latest big tech company to announce its plans in the space.

The typically secretive company has yet to do so, but some comments and hints suggest that Apple is currently working on language-generating artificial intelligence.

Apple's artificial intelligence

Rather than an outright chatbot, Apple appears to be working on a language generation model to support Siri, in a move that will see the fundamental elements of the voice assistant shift from a model-based system entirely, which it has limited to Siri for a while. number of years.

Like some other voice assistants, Siri has struggled to understand different accents and match multiple commands, and an AI model could fix that before competitors as Apple turns to text-generating artificial intelligence.

9To5Mac reported getting information about Apple's current natural language generation tests, which were dubbed "Bobcat." Currently, its testing extends to tvOS for Apple TV, although the software also supports HomePods. It can then be deployed to other devices, including iOS and watchOS.

New adaptive AI-powered foundations may help alleviate what The New York Times (opens in new tab) calls the "clunky code" that has led Siri to face so many challenges and hiccups, especially compared to Assistant. Google that can already benefit from the company's own chatbot, Bard.

If the story is to be believed, then AI can be quietly incorporated into an Apple product designed to enhance productivity or capabilities, rather than a complete solution like ChatGPT; but either way, Apple products (and hopefully Siri) hope to be better for it.
