Another Windows 11 bug is causing headaches for Nvidia GPU owners

Another week, another Windows 11 22H2 error, and again, it's the Nvidia graphics cards that have the biggest problem.

After Nvidia recently fixed an update-induced framerate issue, Reddit users are now reporting even more performance-related issues and a new original bug that reverses 3D renderings for Nvidia GPUs in task manager. (H/T Neowin (opens in a new tab)).

Idle graphics cards display close to 100% utilization in Task Manager despite operating in perfectly cool temperatures, leaving users at best confused and at worst terrified of well-being of your expensive GPUs.

The post below, from Redditorwashed_king_jos (opens in a new tab), shows the bug in action:

Analysis: don't panic

The good news is that the bug is really a bug: if your readings are affected, there's nothing wrong with your Nvidia graphics card. It seems that the issue affects older generation cards as well, as well as the newer Nvidia Lovelace RTX 4000 series of GPUs (which, to be fair, currently only includes the RTX 4090).

Some users have suggested disabling GPU hardware scheduling under GPU settings in Windows to get rid of the frustrating visual weirdness, and while this tactic works, we suggest you leave the feature enabled as it does not harm your system in any way. tarjeta gráfica.

It's still unclear if the problem is caused by a bug in Windows 11 22H2 or by Nvidia's driver update (522.25), but either way, the safest course of action is to wait for either party to implement a patch.
