A new software update for the Google Pixel 4 adds a host of new benefits, like more Motion Sense gestures, while also expanding glitch detection to the UK and Australia. Plus, more of its extras are trickling down to older Pixel phones. Accident detection was one of the coolest features to launch with the Google Pixel 4: Through the personal safety app, the phone used its accelerometer and other sensors to detect if a collision occurred and ask the owner if they should call. to the emergency services, and if there is no response, the phone will share the location and Other location information with the emergency services. This benefit was first available in the United States, but will now be rolled out to Pixel 4 users in Australia (000) and the United Kingdom (999). The other additions to the Pixel 4 software are an erratic mix. Selfies will get better depth effects, Duo video calls get more AR effects that track your facial expressions, and UI tweaks like adaptive brightness improvements that make it easier to see the screen in bright light. The motion detection feature can now be used to pause and resume songs via an air "tap" gesture. Pixel 4 interactions with Google Pay are getting smarter. You can now hold the power button to scroll through connected debit/credit cards, event tickets, boarding passes, etc. This will be available to Pixel 4 users in the US, UK, Canada, Australia, France, Germany, Spain, Italy, Ireland, Taiwan, and Singapore at the moment, but it's unclear if this also applies. to older Pixel phones (we've asked Google for details).
