Android 12 looks set to borrow one of iOS's best features: Wi-Fi Sharing

While Android 11 hasn't brought many new features to Android phones, it looks like the 2021 version of the Google-made software will, as we've now heard of a great Android 12 feature. This is from GizChina, who saw a new entry in the Android Open Source Project (AOSP) regarding the ``Wi-Fi Sharing'' feature. This apparently shares Wi-Fi passwords with nearby devices of your choice, even those in other rooms. Android is open source software, which means that people can copy, modify, and customize it if they want; in fact, most phone manufacturers do it for their own phones. Therefore, new entries and changes to the source code (as is) are likely to be new Android features. This new AOSP entry hasn't been ``merged'' yet, which essentially means it's unofficial, but since it's from a Google engineer, it may be merged soon. Until then, we can't say for sure if it will make it to Android 12, but from the sounds of it we certainly hope so.

An iOS feature

Current versions of Android allow you to share Wi-Fi via QR codes, so if you are connected to Wi-Fi, you can ask your phone to provide a QR code and whoever needs Wi-Fi. Fi can scan the code to access the Internet. The system works, but it can be a bit tricky, especially for people who don't know how to scan QR codes or don't have a scanning app available. Apple products like those for iOS, iPadOS, and macOS have a much better system: If someone near you starts trying to connect to the Internet, a message will appear on your device allowing you to share your Wi-Fi information. they. This is especially useful if you are trying to connect to multiple devices on the web. It's a feature loved by Apple fans, and it's definitely useful, so a similar feature on Android phones would be appreciated. We'll have to wait and see if this feature makes its way to Android 12 at the end of the year when that OS is about to launch, although several beta versions will be released during the first half of the year. should give us some clues.
