Addigy enables IT to automate Apple device configuration policies

There's even more news from Apple's always-on space in the enterprise, as Apple's device management company Addigy has introduced a new tool called Flex Policies.

Make policies remote, automated and easier

The tool is designed to make it easy for corporate IT to apply policies to their entire fleet of Apple devices. What often happens when trying to enforce policies at the device level is that IT has to do it manually. It seems likely to be easier with iOS 16, iPadOS 16, and macOS Ventura, but it's still a time-consuming challenge for IT.

Addigy says Flex will save IT administrators time by eliminating the tedious task of manually assigning Apple device policies to new or existing devices.

what addy says

“Addigy's flexible policies are a game changer not only for IT administrators managing Apple devices, but for the industry as well,” Jason Dettbarn, Addigy's CEO, said in a statement. "By making it easier for IT teams to onboard Apple devices, we remove the stigma of Apple devices in the workplace. What we as a company can do to help IT administrators and MSPs manage these devices It's a win for everyone."

The idea is that Addigy's Flex will allow IT administrators to configure policy statements that can be applied to devices. They can be used to configure device attributes in response to different criteria and can then be automatically assigned, ensuring that devices follow the appropriate policies for the situation.

The good thing about this is that it is possible to assign a device to multiple policies at once, essentially allowing companies to remotely apply changes when the situation around the device changes.

Management is configurable

IT administrators can also exclude groups or individual machines. This allows you to intelligently install a critical system update. Thus, it is possible to send a critical system update to everyone on each team, but exclude machines that you know are currently being used in critical situations. The CEO won't thank you for upgrading his iPhone when he's using it to try to present data at an important investor meeting.

Addigy explained that Flex also gives IT the power to automate device monitoring and remote repair. Administrators can, for example, create a flexible policy that identifies a device that has FileVault disabled and then enable this feature to protect data.

It is also possible to use the tool to assign policies based on user groups; implement advanced conditional software; assign articles to all devices through policies; create custom reports; create small test groups of devices; and parameter migration. The tool also works with other company solutions.

Addigy recently attracted investment from growth equity firm PSG. It's an investment that reflects the continued opportunity opening up in this part of Apple's ecosystem as Macs, iPhones and iPads experience accelerated rollout across the enterprise.

Apple in the enterprise is an exciting space

In the past two years, Mac laptop use in the workplace has increased 63%, with more than half of IT teams reporting growing demand for Apple devices in their businesses.

It's clear that Apple understands the growing importance of enterprise markets. It recently saw a huge iPhone launch of 30,000 people at Openreach, one of the UK's largest companies, and continues to improve its own SME-focused Apple Business Essentials product and improve the APIs it offers for the growing market of MDM providers.

The company also recently reached an agreement with T-Mobile under which the carrier can offer Business Essentials to US SMBs.

Things won't slow down. Not only will Apple be showcasing new iPhones and other products on September 7, but we'll also have the world's largest event for Apple administrators, the Jamf Nation User Conference (JNUC) on September 27, which is sure to bring some exciting announcements. .

There should be no doubt in anyone's mind that Apple's business growth story continues, the market is expanding, and the company seems likely to become the biggest vendor in the coming years.
