ZTE's secondary camera phone appears online for the first time
A few days ago, ZTE President Ni Fei announced the arrival of a smartphone with an under-display camera. This surprised many, but there was skepticism about ZTE's ability to succeed. Well, it seems so, since the ZTE Axon 20 5G, the phone with the technology, has appeared on the Chinese certification portal: TENAA. And there are other surprises. From the looks of the database, the phone is probably not a flagship, although it does have the state-of-the-art under-display camera. We will talk about the technical sheet later because what intrigues us is the (invisible) front camera. Unfortunately, we won't be able to see how good the implementation is right now, other than the fact that it's pretty real. However, Ni Fei recently assured Weibo subscribers that it works well and buyers won't have any problems with it. We'll just have to wait and see if this claim is true.

(Image credit: TENAA) Speaking of waiting, now that the phone has appeared in the certification database listed as ZTE A2121, we can now be sure that it will surely launch soon. As for the phone not being a flagship, that's because it doesn't have a Snapdragon 865 or Dimensity 1000. It likely has the Snapdragon 765G. And ZTE may have done this to control the phone's costs, as the Visionox sub-display camera module that would be used in the phone probably won't come cheap. In all other respects, the ZTE Axon 20 looks like a normal phone with a quad-camera setup on the back powered by a 4,120mAh battery. ZTE has yet to announce a launch date for the phone, but we think it will come very soon. If the company gets ahead of Vsmart, it would be the first to launch a phone with an under-display camera.
