Windows 11's first AI-powered feature just leaked... by Microsoft

The next big update to Windows 11 is scheduled for later this year, and one of the new features to look forward to could be a revised way of organizing windows and apps on the desktop, powered by artificial intelligence (AI).

According to Windows Latest, a preview of an AI-powered "Smart Snap" layout was spotted in preview builds that will be released later this year. While Microsoft has apparently worked internally on Smart Snap, it appears to be hidden and only works on certain configurations.

Windows 11 currently comes with the Snap feature that allows users to open multiple app windows on a single screen to make multitasking easier and increase productivity. You can choose from different layouts and sizes to use the optimal screen space while working on tasks and without switching between tabs or apps. You can split between two split tabs, three on-screen, or four grids if you have a lot to do.

Solve the problem

On Windows 11, Microsoft's Snap Assist feature appears automatically when capturing the first window, displaying a small menu with thumbnails to choose from to help you organize your screen, so you can choose which window goes where in the disposition.

Having access to an earlier version of the new AI-powered tool, Windows Latest notes that Smart Snap now allows the operating system to remember Snap layouts for certain apps and can restore them with a single click.

So if you're like me and have very particular settings (browser windows one way, music and other apps another), Smart Snaps will remember and configure everything for you the way you want.

While it may not sound like the most exciting use of AI, this nifty feature will benefit a wide range of users, making it easier to multitask with the same set of apps. I'm sure it won't be the last AI feature to hit Windows 11 either.
