Why the iPhone SE 3 almost certainly won't appear at Apple's iPad Pro 2021 event
The iPhone SE 2020 was a strange phone for Apple. Fans have been clamoring for a more affordable iPhone for years, and the company has finally satisfied those fans after a four-year wait since the original iPhone SE. Don't expect to see Apple release a new iPhone SE every year. Unlike the rumored relationship between Apple's iPhone 13 series and its iPhone 12 family, it's unlikely we'll see a sequel to Apple's 2020 'affordable' phone any time soon. Apple is rumored to host an event on March 23 where it might be ready to reveal a host of new devices, but it's highly unlikely that we'll see an iPhone SE 3 unveiled at that event. The iPhone SE 2020 didn't show up at last year's iPad Pro event in March, but it did arrive a bit later in April. But right now, it seems unlikely that we'll see an iPhone SE 3 at a separate event in April either, and we'd be very surprised if we see one in 2021. We haven't gotten confirmation of a March 23 event yet either, but it seems likely that more and more leaks suggest something is up. Leaker Jon Prosser even gave us a glimpse of what his sources say to expect, including the new iPad Pro, Apple AirTags, a new version of Apple AirPods, something in it, the IT field, and the introduction of a new Apple. TV for 2021. Why is the iPhone SE 3 not included in this list? There are a number of possible reasons, and while none of them are confirmed, we'll walk you through some of the reasons why we think an iPhone SE 3 is unlikely to land anytime soon.

1. It's too early

Our number one reason is that it would be a very fast response time for a new iPhone SE. The first special edition iPhone came in 2016, when the brand experimented with a more affordable phone along with the iPhone 7 series. Then there was silence in this realm for a long time. Some iPhone SE 2 rumors surfaced, but initially with no clear indication as to when we'd see the phone. In the end, we wait four years, so it doesn't sound like Apple intends to make it an annual deal. There may be a faster turnaround time for the iPhone SE 3, so you won't have to wait a full four years for a new model to arrive, but it's still unclear what will happen.

2. There are no rumors

The iPhone SE 2020 (Image credit: Future) Before the iPhone SE 2 landed, we heard a variety of leaks and rumors about what we should expect from a new, cheaper iPhone. We may have referred to the phone as the iPhone 9, but the phone was eventually unveiled as the iPhone SE 2020, with plenty of leaks to get the information right. If we're going to see a new affordable Apple phone, you should expect to see more firm information from at least a few sources. There is nothing firm on the matter at the moment, which suggests that we will wait until 2022 at the earliest.

3. Where are the leftover pieces?

Another thing to consider is the fact that Apple uses older models for the base of its iPhone SE phones. It scrapped older designs and parts to make these cheaper phones. For example, the original iPhone SE sported the same design as the iPhone 5S, while the 2020 iPhone SE sported the same design as the iPhone 8. Both phones were released at least two years after the models they featured mimicked the design. . If this is a model for the SE line, we would expect the iPhone SE 3 to emulate the design of the iPhone X, which was the next design update offered by Apple after the iPhone 8. However, with the iPhone XS, iPhone 11, and to some extent even the iPhone 12 with a similar design, we think the company would like to move away from it before resurrecting the iPhone SE 3 design. So if Apple plans to continue reusing old models, features and parts from phones like this, we will probably have to wait a few years for the next model.
