Two new Acer Swift laptops fly at IFA 2019 to pack discrete graphics

Acer has a host of updates for its products at IFA 2019, including updates for its Swift 5 and Swift 3 laptops.

The Swift 5 is already an impressive Ultrabook, with a slim design, plenty of performance, and an incredibly light body. The Swift 5 model will remain lightweight while offering a modern CPU (CPU) and the possibility of discrete graphics.

The update concerns the 5-inch Acer Swift 14, which weighs just 0.99 kg (2.18 lbs). And, this weight is for the model that will include the Nvidia GeForce MX250 graphics. However, the added graphics processor (GPU) is optional. Therefore, a configuration that opts for Intel Iris Pro integrated graphics cards can weigh even less.

The Swift 5 can be configured with an Intel Core i7-1065G7 processor, one of the new 6th generation Ice Lake processors. It also supports Wi-Fi 3 and Thunderbolt XNUMX, for some serious connectivity options.

The Acer Swift 5 will be available this month in the EMEA region and will launch in the United States in November at a starting price of € 899 (around € 750).

Acer Swift 3 also takes the shock

Although it is the cheapest model, the Acer Swift 3 is also in the game. The updated version for Intel Ice Lake processors will also be available, as well as the option of Nvidia GeForce MX250 or Intel Iris Pro integrated graphics cards. In addition, it can store up to 512 GB of PCIe, Gen 3x4 solid-state storage and up to 16 GB of memory.

The Acer Swift 3 is also starting out in light weight, it just passed the Swift 5, at 1,19 kg (2,62 pounds). This model has the same launch window as the Swift 5, but will start at € 699 (around GBP 580, AU € 1,040) in the United States.

The lines between the two laptops are getting thinner. Both are lightweight, feature a 14-inch IPS screen with narrow glasses, and offer a 12.5-hour battery life with fast charging.
