XDO.AI's Pantera Pico PC is the fourth thin client/mini PC we've seen in this small cube form factor. Unlike the GMK NucBox and Chuwi Larkbox we reviewed (and Xiaomi's nearly identical computer), though, this one has three unique selling points that set it apart from the competition (for better or better). worse). First of all, it is the only model so far certified to run on Ubuntu, the popular Linux distribution. Then there's the fact that it's available in various color combinations with matching LED lights. And finally, it's the only PC we know of that includes an (optional) docking station. The rest of the data sheet is familiar: an Intel Celeron J4125 processor, up to 8 GB of LPDDR4 memory, WI-FI 5, up to 512 GB of eMMC 5.1 storage, four full-size USB ports, a Type-C power connector, an HDMI 2.0 port, a 3,5mm audio jack, and a microSD card reader. An aluminum chassis and improved cooling system mean the Pantera would also need to be cooler to run under load compared to its rivals. Like many others, the device will begin its life on a crowdfunding platform (Indiegogo) and donors will benefit from a reduction of up to 40%. The expanded focus of the project will be an entertainment platform (the docking station) called Xentaur. A version of Windows 10 is also in the works and there will be an aftermarket M.2 slot for additional storage on board.
