This Microsoft Teams update will help you make an impact at your next meeting

Microsoft is preparing an update for the Teams collaboration platform that should help users maximize the impact of their presentations.

As explained in a new Microsoft product roadmap entry XNUMX, Microsoft Teams users will soon benefit from new Communicator View controls that let you change the size and position of the video stream.

"The communicator mode video controls allow communicators to pan and resize the communicator video stream and automatically adjust the size of content accordingly. This can be applied to any and all modes, including those designated, side by side and the reporter," the company explained.

The Teams communicator mode update is still in development, but should be available to all users by the end of April.

Microsoft first launched Communicator Mode last year, with the goal of giving Teams users a way to tailor their presentation style to the occasion. For example, the perfect mode outlined puts the communicator's video stream in front of the slide deck, while the perfect mode reporter puts the content over the person's shoulder in the style of a news broadcast.

At the time, Microsoft claimed that the new presentation features were designed to "help communicators deliver content in a more professional manner and give meeting attendees active experiences."

With the latest update, the company will provide an additional layer of flexibility with the ability to change the size and position of the video source to suit the specific content being presented. In this way, Microsoft Teams users can ensure that their video does not hide vital information.

The feature will dovetail really well with Microsoft's recently announced helper features that let users rehearse their presentations ahead of time and record those practice sessions to improve them.

The company also introduced a host of work-focused hybrid updates designed to ensure meetings remain fair to employees divided between home and office.

"Whether it's creating more engaging meeting experiences, letting go of cooperation with external partners, or giving you the flexibility to work where, when, and how you want, these new features meet people's new hopes for the workplace," wrote Nicole Kerskowitz, vice president. from Microsoft. The teams.

"While it has changed a lot at work, one thing remains constant: people are at the center. With technologies like Microsoft Teams supporting people, we can make hybrid work truly work by bringing everything, the planet and everything together."
