We've seen the Samsung Galaxy Fold (and Z Fold 2), a phone that folds out to become a tablet; We've seen the Galaxy Z Flip, a ``foldable'' phone that folds in half to become more portable, and now we can get a taste of what Samsung's next foldable phone might look like, and it works. This is from a patent recently released by the US Patent and Trademark Office and discovered by Patently Apple. It should be noted that a patent doesn't confirm that the company is working on such a phone, but since it was released alongside similar patents for the Galaxy Z Flip 5G and Galaxy Z Fold 2, it seems possible that this phone could be the real thing. . Well, this patent is not for a finished phone like other devices, but for foldable technology: rollable screens. The patent shows a screen that rolls up into a rectangular block, which you can remove when you want to use the device. It is better compared to pull down projection screens. There aren't many phones with a roll-up display, so even if this phone is available, it probably will be in a few years. But such technology could give you a giant screen in a relatively small device. We're going to call this phone the Samsung Galaxy Z Roll for now, not because there's no indication that it's called that, but because it makes sense given the naming conventions of the foldable phone company.
