The release date of the Samsung Galaxy S23 has just been confirmed by Samsung itself

We've had months of speculation surrounding a potential release date for the Samsung Galaxy S23, but it seems we can now confidently mark a date on our 1 calendar for the big reveal: Wednesday, February XNUMX.

Samsung hasn't released and hasn't detailed that date, but has released (via SamMobile (opens in a new tab)) a preview of Galaxy Unpacked for February 1 in its Colombian location. We cannot locate the teaser at the time of writing, so it was deleted or we are not very good at searching the Samsung Colombia portal.

Although it is not official, it is practically official. Keeping in mind that this lines up with previous gossip from reliable sources pointing to the same date, we'd say that February 1 is almost certainly going to be the date of the big reveal.

Rumors, coined

When Samsung decides to unveil its latest batch of flagships, we're not likely to have too many surprises given the extent of the Galaxy S23, Galaxy S23 Plus, and Galaxy S23 Ultra leaks.

In terms of design, it looks like all 3 phones in the series will follow the example of the Ultra model, with raised camera lenses on the rear. We also get a preview of the colors the phones will be available in.

There's also been a lot of talk about camera upgrades, especially when it comes to the Ultra model. Photos and videos taken in good and bad lighting conditions should look better than ever if the gossip turns out to be some.

Analysis: Samsung strikes back

When it comes to smartphone launches by high-profile tech giants, we tend to focus on Apple's iPhone, Google's Pixel, and Samsung's Galaxy S, but only one of those 3 phones launches earlier in the year. .

This puts Samsung in a different situation than Apple and Google. The iPhone 22 and Pixel 7 were arguably in direct competition, as they launched pretty much at the same time (September and October, respectively). When the iPhone XNUMX was released, the Samsung Galaxy SXNUMX was already XNUMX months old.

One way to look at it is that Samsung is always 6 months ahead of its big competitors; another perspective is that there is still a delay of 6 months. The strategy at least means that Samsung can get a lot of attention for its flagship phones, regardless of what Apple and Google do.

We're looking at the launch of the Galaxy S23 as Samsung responds to what other phone makers did last year, while setting the tone for 22. The next question is how much of an update on the Galaxy SXNUMX phones are we going to see.
