Plus, the only consumable you need is the special thermal paper, making it an ideal handheld device for on the road or on the plane. It comes with an AC adapter and a battery. So you can use it anywhere. Even if Wi-Fi is built in, you don't need to search for a network to connect to your device because it also offers Wi-Fi Direct and a mini USB port. It prints fairly quickly, and black and white pages appear as sharp and detailed as any laser printer.

The result is a highly portable device capable of producing crisp color documents at speeds of 10 per minute in monochrome or 7 in color. There is no duplex mode, but it can handle envelopes, photo paper, and photo paper of any size up to A4. With Wi-Fi Direct and an available USB port, you can really print from anywhere with this nifty device.

Five-ink printing without compromise on the road.

category: Portable Color Inkjet Printer | Printing speed: 9ppm | Paper sizes: up to A4 | Paper capacity: 50 | weight: 2,2 kg

This inkjet printer is small enough to fit in a large bag or briefcase. It comes with a battery pack and a power cord that lets you print color documents on the go. It can connect via Wi-Fi, Wi-Fi Direct, or USB, and is compatible with AirPrint, Google Cloud Print, and Canon's Canon Pixma Print software for easy cloud operation. There is no automatic two-sided mode, but in other respects this miniature printer is uncompromising. It uses five ink cartridges for superior color fidelity when printing photos, for example, and at nine pages per minute. It also doesn't have the slowness to print black and white pages.

This sleek and small inkjet requires a feed point because there is no battery option, but in all other respects it is the perfect portable printer. Weighing just 6,5 kg, it slides easily into a bag and the "X" edition featured here includes a cloth cover to protect it during transport. It also acts as a mat to catch your printed paper. There is no built-in scanner, but the excellent companion app lets you use your smartphone's camera to capture, straighten, and copy documents. It will print on envelopes or photo paper of any size up to A4 and will produce pages at a reasonable speed of 11 ppm. HP has ditched the USB port entirely because its wireless capabilities include technologies ranging from Wi-Fi to Bluetooth, via AirPrint and Google Cloud Print, making it perhaps the most flexible device we've come across. # 39; Print.

Fujifilm InstaxShare SP-3

6. Fujifilm InstaxShare SP-3

A fun but expensive way to print moments.

category: portable flash film printer | Printing speed: 4ppm | Paper sizes: 72x86mm | Paper capacity: 1 | weight: 312g

small and elegant

Easy / fun to use

Expensive photo paper

Limited applications

This (almost) pocket printer is probably the easiest way to turn photos from your Instax smartphone or camera into physical prints. By developing the technology used in Kodak flash cameras, Fijifilm's inkless system filters the image onto square-format photo paper. Neither the printer nor the paper is cheap and the printer itself has few features other than Wi-Fi. However, the photos it produces are colorful and accurate even if they are a bit sweet and pale. It must be the most rewarding way to turn a beautiful photo into a physical moment that can be streamed and pasted on the wall.

Polaroid mint

7. Polaroid Mint

category: instant film color printer | Paper sizes: 2x3 inches | Paper capacity: 1 | weight: 162g

Great photo quality

Attractive design

expensive

Slow to print

Polaroid's zinc (zero ink) technology is used in this thoughtful and portable printer. It's slim enough to slip into a shoulder bag and weighs just 162 grams; most of this weight belongs to the 900 mAh battery. Polaroid photo paper is quite expensive and limits prints to 2x3 inches, but the results are always colorful, detailed, and beautifully retro. And no, the shake does not allow the image to grow faster.

8. Brother MW-145BT Mobile Printer

category: Portable Mono Thermal Printer | First impression: 15 seconds | Paper sizes: up to A7 | Paper capacity: 50 | weight: 300g

Slips into a pocket

No need for ink

Limited use

No wifi or NFC

Don't confuse this handheld with Polaroid and Kodak retro photo printers. This is strictly professional and is only printed in monochrome on thin thermal paper that is similar in format to Instax film. It can hold a 50-sheet pack, connect to your device via Bluetooth, and print silently at 300 dpi resolution. It's perfect for sending or copying receipts while on the go, for example. It is designed to survive on the road with a lifespan of approximately 100 pages.

HP SprocketPlus

9. HP Sprocket Plus Mobile Printer

category: Portable Color Thermal Printer | First impression: 35 seconds | Paper sizes: 5,8 x 8,7 cm | Paper capacity: 10 | weight: 5,4 kg

Thin and light

Larger prints than rivals.

No wifi

Expensive photo paper

The HP Sprocket Plus produces slightly larger prints than its predecessor Sprocket and its immediate rivals, while the device itself has become thinner and lighter. Thanks to Zink technology, you don't need ink, but you depend on HP Thermal Photo Paper with Adhesive Media, sold in packs of ten. With the Sprocket app and a Bluetooth connection to your smartphone, you can print colorful and creative photos wherever you are. The lithium ion battery is suitable for approximately 30 prints with a resolution greater than 300 dpi.

10. Brother PocketJet 763MFi portable printer

category: portable thermal printer | Printing speed: 16ppm | Paper sizes: up to A4 | Paper capacity: 100 | weight: 6,6 kg

Small and solid

Print up to A4 size

Just monkey

Expensive paper

This portable printer could almost slip into a jacket pocket and yet it can print on A4 size paper. By using thermal printing, rather than impact printing that requires ink and many more moving parts, this battery-powered device requires no consumables other than specialty thermal paper. The difference between this model and most mobile printers is the addition of Made For iPhone (MFi), which makes it easy to sync with Mac and iOS devices via Bluetooth. With a battery that lasts 100 prints and unlimited ink, you can really print anywhere with this rugged and highly portable device.
