The Boys Showrunner Reveals the Iconic DC Superhero He Wants to Play Next

The Boys showrunner Eric Kripke has revealed which iconic DC superhero he has yet to lampoon in the R-rated TV series.

Ahead of The Boys season 3's release on June 3, Kripke told TechRadar (and other outlets) via a panel discussion that he was looking for a way to parody Batman on the popular Prime Video show.

The Dark Knight may seem like an odd choice for Kripke. After all, the legendary DC superhero, who has had his fair share of film adaptations over the years, including Matt Reeves' critically acclaimed The Batman, is the main inspiration for Black Noir, one of the The Boys' most powerful supes.

However, Kripke thinks it's possible to include another Batman character in The Boys in a future season. As he explains, there are other parts of the Batman mythos that are ripe for exploration and mockery on the show, albeit with a different personality.

"We have an Ant-Man character and obviously Soldier Boy is a Captain America reference," says Kripke.

"The one we haven't figured out yet is Batman - he's still a character we've yet to address. And we should, because he's basically a capitalist nightmare who oppressed the criminal lower classes just to increase his family's wealth, so you I think we should get into that! In fact, I think I will now."

If Kripke and his fellow writer on The Boys find a way to infuse another character with Batman's personality and other thematic elements, it will be interesting to see if that individual is added to The Seven's lineup. As fans of the show (and the original graphic novel series) know, The Seven is a satirized version of the Justice League, DC's iconic supergroup. You know, Homelander is Superman, Queen Maeve is Wonder Woman, A-Train is The Flash, etc.

Black Noir is already on the list of the Seven, so Vought International's most popular superhero team isn't in desperate need of a Batman-like character. Still, it will be interesting to see how Kripke and company bring other aspects of Batman to the boys' universe, especially since the series will only last two more seasons (opens in a new tab).
