Hidden Star Wars 1313 Boba Fett Gameplay Revealed By Lead Animator

The game's former lead animator, James Zachary, has posted never-before-seen gameplay footage of the canceled third-person shooter Star Wars 1313 online.

Both clips show Boba Fett as a playable character along with various gameplay segments.

The first video follows the famous bounty hunter through the streets of a dense underground city. The segment, in which the player appears to be navigating a linear corridor populated by NPCs, was captured to highlight the "living world gameplay" of Star Wars 1313, according to Zachary.

The second video shows a chase sequence on the rooftops of what appears to be Coruscant. The game primarily features platforming, with the player jumping over obstacles, swinging across chasms, climbing walls, and sliding in search of a fleeing NPC.

Although there is no combat in the video, the HUD shows an equipped rifle and some thermal detonating grenades. Three icons are also shown on the right side of the screen, which appear to include a flame and a rocket, likely marking Fett's flamethrower and rocket launchers.

Zachary says that the game's animation was built around three "pillars: environmental interactions (shown in the second clip), situational awareness, and character relationships."

A third and final video, which was previously shared on Twitter, shows a minute-long, untextured gameplay segment, in which the player and their droid companion are ambushed in a large room. The clip showcases the game's cover mechanics and destructive environments, with a portion of the cover destroyed by incoming fire.

It also shows a level of interaction between the player and their NPC droid companion, with the droid healing the player after taking damage and the player jumping onto the droid's back to perform a finishing move.

All three clips along with the official demo of the game at E3 2012 can be viewed on Zachary's blog or below.

Analysis: richest crumbs

Star Wars 1313 has earned a reputation as a tragically lost title. Officially revealed at E3 in 2012, the game's development almost came to a halt the following year after Disney purchased Lucasfilm. The game has since been discontinued and is unlikely to return to development.

This leaves many Star Wars fans hungry for every ounce of the game they can get their hands on, jumping on leaks and details of its first version. These new videos not only provide an expanded look at the game, compared to what has been revealed in the past, but also explicitly show Boba Fett as a playable character. However, it is unknown if Fett was intended to be playable in the final game, or if she was just used as a character model for these demos.

The new videos shed more light on the new gameplay elements, however, unlike many Star Wars games, this would have involved platforming, third-person shooting, and interactive environments. Also notable is its setting in the dense urban world of Coruscant, with few Star Wars games taking the player to the city planet.
