Rumors of a Sony ZV1 vlogging camera started swirling last week, and now a new leak has suggested that the compact could be on the way, with very promising video capabilities. Sony Alpha Rumors is confident that the "compact selfie camera" will arrive on May 26 and will ship with "Real-time AF and Real-time AF." If, as we hope, that means the ZV1 will have the latest version of Sony's autofocus modes, you should be able to use them in both continuous autofocus and video modes. The latter, of course, would be a boon for vloggers and that seems like a likely inclusion, given that it's already on the Sony RX100 VII. Eye AF has been around for many years, but only recently made the move to video with the latest camera processors. Real-time eye autofocus for videos is especially useful if you want to shoot your YouTube videos wide open, to help produce a nice background blur, but don't worry if your eyes are sharp when you move in the frame. What are the other features for the ZV1? According to Sony Alpha Rumors, the compact will have an improved microphone, a vari-angle LCD screen, a lens with an f/1.8-f/2.8 aperture, a "one-touch Bokeh function" and "Automatic Object Detection". The last two features would be new because we haven't seen them on any other Sony camera. And while it's not entirely clear, it's fair to assume they're again tied to Sony's Intelligent Autofocus, which uses predictive algorithms and object recognition to track certain objects through the frame.
