Sony's first QD-OLED TV is cheaper than expected, but it's still not the cheapest

Sony has finally revealed the price of its 2022 TV range in Europe, so we finally know how much its LCD, OLED and QD-OLED TVs will cost there, and an idea of what they're likely to cost elsewhere.

More importantly, we have a price for the Sony A95K which should go on sale in May. We were impressed with this QD-OLED when we got a chance to test it earlier this year, and you'll be able to pick one up from €3050 for the 55-inch model (via FlatPanels HD), which is around €3300 / €2550 / AU$4500.

Alternatively, you can pick up the 65-inch model for €4050 (about £4400 / £3400 / AU$5900).

These UK, US and Australian prices are direct conversions from Euro prices, so we'll have to wait for Sony to make an official announcement on pricing in these regions; however, previous leaks have suggested that the QD-OLED TV will cost around €3,000.

While these prices aren't what you'd call cheap, they are much lower than some had predicted, given that these TVs use entirely new technology that would be incredibly inefficient to manufacture.

Those looking for a more affordable option might want to check out Sony's A80K 4K OLED, which starts at €2300 (£2500 / £1900 / AU$3400) for the 55-inch version, or the Sony X90K LCD, whose price Starting at €1600 ($1,750 / €1,350 / AU$2,350) for the 55-inch model.

There's also the Sony X95K Mini LED, which starts at $3500 (£3800 / £2900 / AU$5100) for its smallest 65-inch size.

All of these 2022 TVs have 4K resolution with Dolby Vision HDR support and run on the Google TV 10 operating system. The OLED displays also use the latest XR OLED Contrast Pro technology to help them deliver the best picture possible.

If you are looking for other brands, you can also check out Samsung's S95B QD-OLED TV or LG C2 OLED Evo. While Sony's lineup is cheaper than expected, rivals still managed to cut it down, while delivering impressive visuals.

We'll have to spend more time with each of these TVs to get an idea of which one is best for your home theater setup, but it's already clear that Sony's 2022 TVs have some stiff competition.
