Samsung merges mobile and consumer divisions in latest restructuring


Samsung has announced an internal reorganization that sees the South Korean giant merge its smartphone division into its consumer electronics business.

The new SET division will sit alongside a separate entity representing Samsung's semiconductor unit, and the two companies will get a new CEO.

The move seems to signal that the company plans to focus on a wide range of interests and technologies, while eyeing internal and global hardware, especially its Samsung phones.

The announcement was part of a detailed statement from the South Korean giant revealing multiple management changes.
