Pinterest might be the best place to start a small business right now
Starting a business on Pinterest is about to get even easier for creators, as the image-sharing platform and social network gives them the ability to make their Pin ideas shoppable, earn commissions through affiliates and partnering with brands on sponsored content. First introduced last year, Idea Pins can each have up to 10 topic tags that allow creators to specifically distribute their content to Pinterest users through the service's home feed and search. Now, with the addition of Idea Pin product tagging, creators can tag their Idea Pins with any of the millions of product Pins on the platform. Over the years, Pinterest has grown into a huge catalog with hundreds of millions of product Pins uploaded by retailers. At the same time, many products are uploaded to the platform thanks to the company's partnership with Shopify. Based on its own research, Pinterest has found that users are more likely to consider buying products tagged on idea pins rather than standalone product pins. That's why the company decided to give creators the opportunity to leverage their catalog by tagging specific products on their idea pins.

Since many creators already have brand partnerships with businesses, Pinterest makes it easy for them to disclose these paid relationships with a new tool that adds a "paid partnerships" tag to their Idea Pins. The company is launching this new tool in beta today and with it, creators will be able to add brands directly to their Idea Pins. Once these tags have been validated by the brands themselves, the Idea Pin will include a "paid association" tag. With these new updates, Pinterest gives creators the ability to make their content more actionable and affordable, make a living from their posts, and easily partner with new and existing brands. Idea Pins product marking is rolling out to all merchant accounts in the US and UK starting today and will continue to roll out globally in the coming months. The Pinterest Paid Partnerships tool is now available to select creators in the US, UK, Canada, Australia, Ireland, New Zealand, France, Spain, Italy, Germany, Switzerland, Austria, Sweden, Brazil, Argentina, Mexico , Chile, Colombia and Peru.
