Philips 2022 TV lineup looks to be the best yet for gamers

Philips just announced its 2022 TV lineup, and gamers looking to upgrade their home theater systems should pay attention.

In fact, the brand's new selection of 4K LED and OLED displays should be among the best on the market for those who play on high-end PC rigs and gaming consoles.

For starters, the new OLED807, OLED707, Mini LED 9507 and LED 8807 TVs will support a maximum refresh rate (with VRR, variable refresh rate) of 120Hz at 4K resolution, giving you the kind of specs you need. . Get the most out of your PS5 or Xbox Series X console.

On top of that, Philips has announced that Nvidia G-Sync and AMD Freesync support will be coming to a selection of its TVs, which have so far been confirmed to include OLED807 and LED 8807, along with Auto Game and Auto-Low modes. Latency that brings the input lag reduced to just 9ms on select sets.

It's unclear if these features will also come to other new Philips TVs, so we've asked for clarification. If we receive a response, we'll be sure to update this article with the latest information.

Pricing is also currently unavailable, however we can expect these models to be priced the same as last year's collection. Based on the price of the OLED806, we can expect the new OLED807 to cost around €1,299 for its smaller sizes and upwards of €3,999 for its largest.

More than a gaming monitor

But what might make the Philips range particularly attractive is that you're not only going to get great gaming performance, your picture should be great too.

Philips 2022 OLED displays will continue to deliver improved clarity in dark scenes and brighter colors than you'll be used to from a typical LCD display.

On top of that, Philips' unique Ambilight feature, which shines a light behind the TV that matches the color of what's on the screen, will provide a deeper level of immersion than you'll be used to from traditional TVs.

Making this immersion even better, the new Philips 8807 screen will be its biggest TV yet. Phillips will offer an incredibly large 86-inch size option that is sure to fill your eyes, and in any room it's placed in, with 120Hz and VRR modes.

Fortunately, smaller screen sizes between 43 inches and 75 inches will also be available.

Finally, Philips OLED807, OLED707 and Mini LED 9507 TVs are IMAX Enhanced certified, which means they should deliver best-in-class picture and audio performance. If you want to enjoy IMAX Enhanced content like Disney Plus MCU movies, these are the types of screens to look for.

That said, until we try these TVs out for ourselves, we should try to keep our expectations in check; however, our incredibly positive past experience with models like the Philips OLED806 leads us to believe their 2022 pick will live up to our hype.
