The Overwatch 2 roadmap is full of information about what's to come for the free-to-play shooter from day one and beyond. This includes confirmation that an unannounced third hero will be joining the ranks at launch.
Overwatch 2 will launch in early access on October 4 for PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X|S consoles. Additionally, the roadmap reveals three new heroes joining the fight from the start.
Two of these heroes have already been revealed. Junker Queen was officially confirmed this week, while Sojourn launched in the Overwatch 2 beta. Thanks to our time with her, we already have an Overwatch 2 Sojourn guide ready to dive into before launch.
The third hero has yet to be fully revealed, but Blizzard has confirmed that it will be a support hero. And we have a big hint that could indicate how this hero will perform in the game.
Who is this mysterious third hero?
By checking out the timestamp linked in the Overwatch release date reveal trailer (Opens in a new tab), it's possible to catch a quick glimpse of an ethereal blue fox that players say belongs to this enigmatic third party. new hero.
We don't know what game purpose this fox will have, or if it's related to the third hero. However, if so, it's possible that the fox provides buffs to teammates or debuffs to enemy heroes.
Also, we see a group of heroes chasing the fox. This could potentially lead them to sneaky enemy players or highlight an optimal route to an objective. The hero's feet glow green, which may indicate a speed buff is being applied, much like Lucio's Speed Boost. Whatever direction Blizzard takes with this foxy new hero, it has certainly piqued our interest.

As you can see from the image above, Overwatch 2's all-new heroes aren't the only feature coming on day one. The Overwatch 2 Battle Pass for Season 1 arrives on the same day, with over 30 skins available to earn through progression, as well as a new Mythic skin.
In addition, we will be entitled to six new maps and a completely new game mode from the beginning. Seasons will normally last nine weeks, and the change will bring a new battle pass, as well as new heroes, skins, modes, and more.
In 2023, Blizzard will also add a new PvE mode to Overwatch 2. This mode was originally planned for the original Overwatch, but was delayed in order to make the sequel a more complete experience for casual and expert players.
