Nintendo Switch Introduces New Jazzy Colors Joy-Con This Year

It's turning out to be a big year for Nintendo hardware. Two years after the first iteration of the Nintendo Switch, we now know we'll be getting a Switch Lite console, a revamped Switch model with double the battery life, and even some new Joy-Con controller colors, for added aesthetic upgrades. Nintendo of America has announced the new Joy-Cons on Twitter, with Blue/Neon Yellow and Neon Purple/Neon Orange options. They'll cost €79.99 (roughly $65, AU$115), the same as previous Joy-Con colors, and will be available starting October 4, 2019.

Available from 10/4 for €79.99. #MyWayToPlay pic.twitter.com/231TcnnTG217 July 2019 You can already get the colors of Joy-Cons in yellow, but we've never seen a blue color. Twitter commenters were quick to draw comparisons to Splatoon's brilliant color scheme. Of course, you don't get any technical improvements here, and it's a bit depressing not to see a price reduction on hardware a few years ago. Many reports also mention controller "drift", the Joy-Cons monitoring the camera angle slowly in a random direction, even if the thumb grip is not used. But if you're looking for bold new colors to give your current Switch, or battery-powered model, a makeover, it's nice to have a few options. (Don't forget, though, that you can avoid all those little Joy-Cons with a premium Nintendo Switch Pro controller.)
