Netflix reveals star-studded cast for Black Mirror season 6 (*two*)

Netflix has unveiled a star-studded cast for the sixth season of Black Mirror.

The wait for news about a new series of the show has taken some time. In fact, it's been over three years since the fifth season of Black Mirror was released on Netflix, but things are finally moving again.

According to Variety(Opens in a new tab), Deadpool's Zazie Beetz, I May Destroy You's Paapa Essiedu, Josh Hartnett, Aaron Paul, Kate Mara, Danny Ramirez, Clara Rugaard, Auden Thornton and Anjana Vasan are confirmed for roles in the sixth of the Class show.

As previously reported, show creator Charlie Brooker and Netflix are operating with a broader vision for the new season, which is expected to have more episodes than the 2019 three-episode series. It only covers the first three episodes of the season. , with more cast members to be confirmed in the coming weeks.

The new season of the show is billed as a step up from the fifth season, with an inside source promising that it will be "even more cinematic, with each episode treated as an individual movie."

Charlie Brooker has not said anything about the new season. In fact, he last commented on the show in 2020, telling the Radio Times he wasn't sure the show would ever return, saying, "Right now, I don't know what stomach there would be for the stories." about collapsing societies, so I'm not working on one of them, I'm a little anxious to brush up on my comics skills, so I wrote scripts meant to make me laugh.

The writer helmed Cat Burglar (opens in a new tab), which hit Netflix earlier this year. The show is an old school Hanna-Barbera style interactive cartoon where the viewer answers questions to help a watchdog named Peanut protect a priceless piece of art from a burglar cat named Rowdy.

Now, however, Brooker has returned to work on Black Mirror.

What a cast!

Brooker and her producing partner Annabel Jones have always been able to attract great talent and this new cast is no exception.

Mara, Beetz, Paul and Hartnett all established profiles, but Brooker and Jones also captured several rising stars.

Essiedu emerges from an acclaimed role in Sky's sci-fi drama The Lazarus Project, Ramírez basking in the brilliance of Top Gun: Maverick, Vasan won plaudits for his role in Channel 4's We Are Lady Parts and Rugaard has just directed the quirky Sky drama, The Rising.

With more casting announcements to come and a stellar new season to look forward to, we can't wait to see Brooker up the ante for the show's sixth season. Unfortunately, with production just getting started, it's likely to be 2023 before the series airs.
