Microsoft is changing one of the most beloved things about Office Microsoft is changing its default font, the one used from the beginning in Microsoft 365 apps, including the Office apps that many people use every day, like Word, and the company wants users to choose their preferred option from five options. As detailed in a Microsoft 365 blog post, the five options are: Tenorite, Bierstadt, Skeena, Seaford, and Grandview. As you probably know, Calibri is Microsoft's default font of choice, and its reign has been going on since 2007 (before that was that old chestnut Times New Roman). Whichever font is ultimately chosen as Calibri's successor as the new default, all five of the new efforts will be available in Office apps, and are indeed present now. The blog post details the design philosophy behind each of the five different fonts, which “cover the various sans-serif styles: humanist, geometric, Swiss, and industrial.” In short, Tenorite is a very rounded, wide and sharp font, Bierstadt is sharp and 'mechanical', Skeena looks clean and has distinctive thicker and thinner lines for different parts of the letters, Seaford offers "softly organic and asymmetrical shapes."
