Microsoft Teams wants to help you get through this time-consuming task

Finding a particularly important message or information in a Microsoft Teams chat should soon be easier than ever thanks to a new update.

The video conferencing platform is working on an improved dashboard view that it says can help users quickly identify or find the content they're looking for.

The release could mean the end of boring Ctrl+F searches, filtering through tons of text to find a particular conversation that took place days or even weeks ago.

In its official Microsoft 365 roadmap entry (opens in a new tab), the new "Chat Dashboard" feature is described as being able to "give users more information and help them easily find shared content on the chat".

There's no specific information on exactly how this will work, with the update still listed as "in development" at this time, but we're assuming you'd use the existing chat details page to quickly find keywords or people.

The update has a target rollout start date of April 2023, which means users shouldn't have to wait too long. Mobile users on iOS and Android will be the first to experience the new tool, and we hope desktop and Mac users won't be left behind.

The update is the latest addition to Microsoft Teams as the company looks to ensure the platform remains intuitive and useful for users around the world.

It also recently announced that it would integrate Teams chat into Microsoft Outlook to enable a meeting-like approach to the email client.

These new "Outlook Meetings" will allow participants to send a quick message or review a conversation without having to open Microsoft Teams separately, meaning users won't need to switch between apps.

Another new app means Microsoft Teams users will soon be able to integrate their calendars with Outlook, which syncs across the Office 365 suite to help users keep track of their time and identify availability for online meetings.
