Microsoft Teams reveals that it will automatically delete your previous calls, if you allow it
Users who want to access recordings of past Microsoft Teams calls will need to make sure they don't wait too long to do so, the company warned. Microsoft recently revealed that the video conferencing service will automatically delete call recordings after a set period of time if users do nothing with their files, such as download or listen to them. The company has now confirmed that this period will be set to 60 days, so users will have to interact with the recordings they need in a few weeks or risk losing the files forever.

Delete calls from Microsoft Teams

Microsoft says the 60-day limit was chosen after the company discovered it was the average time after which most meeting recordings are never viewed again. Users and administrators can always change the default expiration date, although the settings are not immediately accessible. Microsoft Teams has revealed plans to start recording all calls automatically in June 2021, replacing a previous process where users had to sign up for call recording. This feature is especially useful for organizations that need to capture meeting interactions to comply with industry regulations or local laws. Meeting participants see a warning at the start of a call to alert them that the meeting is being recorded, with the recording available to download and play after the call ends. The company also recently revealed an update that would allow Teams admins to set automatic expiration for meeting recordings stored on OneDrive and SharePoint. Scheduled to roll out in September, the feature will allow the creation of a default Teams policy setting on auto-delete, though admins can change the default meeting recording expiration time through a setting in the admin portal. from Teams or by changing the policy attributes using Powershell Scripts . The feature will allow Microsoft Teams to get acquainted with competing services like Zoom, which have been offering call recording (and call removal) for some time. Via MSPowerUser
