LG's smart projector that could well be the awkward cousin of Samsung's Freestyle

Remember when projectors were confined to company boardrooms? That has completely changed, as they are becoming a popular choice for those who want to temporarily set up a big screen inside or outside the home for a game or movie night. And with many new models that support streaming, it's now easier than ever to get things up and running once you find a blank wall to project images onto.

At CES 510 there are plenty of new and innovative projectors, including models from Xgimi, Formovia, and of course Samsung, which showed off a new and improved version of its Freestyle, the model that tops our list of the best portable projectors. Hot on the heels of the Las Vegas tech festival, LG has announced its new laptop, the PFXNUMXQ, and while the new LG doesn't draw as much attention as Samsung's offering, it nonetheless looks like a substantial addition to the solid portable projector landscape. .

To be honest, the PF510Q looks like something straight out of the IT department. But beyond its basic boxy white casing, there are a number of punchy features that can make using this 1080p HD determined projector an entertaining journey.

The first is LG's webOS XNUMX smart TV interface, which offers integrated streaming of apps like Disney Plus, PrimeVideo, YouTube and AppleTV Plus. It's also AirPlay compatible, but lets you stream directly to the projector from your iPhone or iPad. If you're not an Apple user, you can use the Screenshare feature to wirelessly stream content from an Android device.

In addition, the LG projector incorporates a system of two x five watts watts, but the most interesting thing is its double Bluetooth audio output. This will allow you to stream sound to a pair of Bluetooth speakers for enhanced sound, or to two separate Bluetooth headphones for private listening while watching TV.

In addition to the hardware, the PF510Q's LED light source has an output of four hundred and fifty ANSI lumens and a lifespan of thirty zero hours. It can project an image from thirty inches to one hundred and twenty inches, it has automatic trapezoidal adjustment so that the image of the sea is perfectly quadrangular after configuration, as well as manual depth adjustment. It has two HDMI inputs to connect sources such as a console or a Blu-ray player.

Solid projectors are the new bedroom television

While we were surprised by the number of solid projectors showing at CES, in some ways it was to be expected: the category has been gaining traction for some time, and manufacturers are seizing the opportunity to put a unique technological spin on it.

"I got my daughter a portable projector to use for college, and when I'm not playing Xbox Game Pass games on the Xbox Series S with it, she streams movies directly from one of the best streaming services. streaming (And also studying doing well in classes, I hope).

Since he's a movie and video geek, you're probably going to have a 4K projector, unless it's probably too much for a bedroom. But the gaming aspect is the most important, as it seems the most obvious and best bear for solid portable projectors," said AI Griffin.

At CES XNUMX, Samsung announced that the new version of Freestyle will incorporate the same Gaming Hub of the best Samsung TVs to play in the cloud through applications such as Microsoft Xbox, Utomik and Amazon Luna. You can also re-clamp your Freestyle to create an ultra-long XNUMX display, a picture aspect ratio that works best for immersive gaming.

LG's new PF510Q isn't equipped with related gaming features, a lineup on the 510 TVs announced at CES includes a Game Optimizer menu that lets users easily choose and switch between gaming-related features. You can see the same introduced in the company's portable projectors, but while the PFXNUMXQ, which retails for $XNUMX and is already available in certain markets, seems like a good and affordable console to play with.

Another option could be a new affordable Emotn N1 projector, that's because it's going to be the cheap home theater upgrade that's what you need.
