The worst video call may have finally gotten a lot easier
Missing an important video conference meeting may not be the end of the world anymore thanks to a new update to the Otter.ai transcription platform. The company released an update to its Otter Assistant tool that will transcribe Microsoft Teams, Google Meet, and Cisco Webex calls for you, leaving users free to join the meeting without worrying about taking notes. The feature can even sync with your calendar and automatically join meetings if you can't make it, take notes and pack them neatly for when you're free.

Otter Wizard Update

Otter Assistant could already join and transcribe Zoom calls, but the company says this extension to other platforms will help more than roughly 500 million daily users on the most popular video conferencing services. Once activated, Otter Assistant will automatically begin transcribing the meeting using the company's AI-powered tools, as well as providing an audio recording of the call. Users can highlight, add images, comments or questions, search by keywords or name, and review the transcript and audio during and after the meeting. Otter.ai will also allow companies to create custom vocabularies for internal names, slang, or acronyms, which means your transcription must be completely accurate. All notes can also be accessed through the Otter.ai web app or the iOS and Android mobile apps. “With more and more companies adapting to a hybrid work model where professionals work and meet in the office, home and on mobile, many are turning to Otter as a tool to improve communication and team collaboration.” said Sam Liang, co-founder. & CEO of Otter.ai. “We are excited to make using Otter even easier and more accessible, no matter where and how people lead and participate in meetings. "The tool is only available to Otter Business Plan users at this time, with a subscription starting at €20 per user per month.
