Ghost of Tsushima goes co-op multiplayer later this year

Ghost of Tsushima will get new online co-op multiplayer later this year, which will be free to download and play for existing owners, though it naturally requires a PlayStation Plus subscription. Perhaps most surprisingly, a four-player raid should follow soon after. The news came via the PlayStation Blog today, where Darren Bridges, Senior Game Designer at Sucker Punch, explained what the deal was about. The new multiplayer mode, known as Ghost of Tsushima: Legends, promises a "whole new experience." Breaking away from the main protagonist JIn, Legends will instead focus on four warriors who came to life in the stories told by the people of Tsushima.

You will be able to choose one of four unique classes to play: Samurai, Hunter, Ronin or Assassin. Each will have their own set of skills and abilities, though these have yet to be revealed, and the classes will likely synergize well to encourage players to vary their gear.

On mission

You will be able to choose between several types of missions in Legends. Groups of two players can enjoy a series of cooperative story missions that will increase in difficulty and require them to work together to survive. Meanwhile, groups of four players can engage in "wave-based survival missions." If that's not enough to get you going, the aforementioned four-player raid will launch shortly after Legends arrives. "It was so gratifying to see the incredible reactions from all of you playing Ghost of Tsushima," Bridges says in the blog post. Open this new way so we can all play together! We're excited to offer this mode completely free to Ghost of Tsushima owners as a thank you to our players, and we can't wait to hear what you think! "More details on the different character classes and customization available in Ghost of Tsushima: Legends will be revealed closer to launch.
