Batman director mocks the 'really cool' scene he left out of the movie

Possible spoilers for The Batman follow.

The Batman director has revealed that he left a "really cool" scene in the final cut of the film, and it involved the mysterious villain Barry Keoghan.

Speaking exclusively to TechRadar ahead of The Batman's theatrical release on March 4, Matt Reeves opened up about the content he cut to shorten the DCEU movie's runtime. And interestingly enough, Reeves teased that one sequence in particular contained more of Keoghan's enigmatic character.

The role of the Dunkirk and Eternals star has been the subject of much speculation online, with fans desperate to know if any of the rumors surrounding Keoghan's character are true.

Understandably, Reeves was very selective with the words he used to describe Keoghan's character so as not to spoil the surprise of the Dark Knight's latest cinematic adventure. However, Reeves did talk about a cut scene from The Batman that was "really cool" to film, before strongly suggesting that it be released sometime after the film's release.

“There were scenes that we cut that I liked,” Reeves said. "There's actually a scene with the invisible prisoner (Keoghan), who appears at the end of the movie in Arkham with the Riddler. There was an earlier scene where Batman went to Arkham to try to profile the Riddler, and Barry is in that scene. It's a really cool scene, and I'm sure we'll post the scene after the movie comes out, because it's a really cool deleted scene."

Batman's nearly three-hour runtime makes it one of the longest Batman movies of all time, so it's no surprise to hear that a variety of minor scenes were cut from the final version. In fact, if previous reports are to be believed, Warner Bros. sampled a four-hour cut of the film at early test screenings. So it's possible that The Batman was even longer than it is.

But, as he has said in other interviews, Reeves confirmed that there was no director's cut of The Batman, which Warner Bros. shelved for another day.

"There's nothing that I took away from the movie that I would have liked to see in it," Reeves added. "That's the cut of the movie. I mean, there's not, it's not like there's any other . The amazing thing is that I was able to make the movie that I wanted to make, and it's that movie."
