Adobe offers new features for Frame.io to improve online collaboration

Following its $1300 billion acquisition of Frame.io, media giant Adobe injected practical updates into the popular online collaboration platform to make it faster and easier for users ranging from freelancers to large enterprises.

Ahead of NAB 2023, a number of announcements were made to make media sharing even easier, including expanding Camera to Cloud to more devices.

Frame.io also introduced tweaks to tighten security, with the aim of appealing to the most skeptical creatives who haven't yet trusted the platform.

Frame.io Camera to Cloud for more creations

Users of the FUJIFILM X-H2 and X-H2S cameras will now be able to use the RAW photo to cloud workflow, as well as JPG and HEIF support and 8K ProRes video.

As part of the update, Capture One photo editing software is getting support which Frame.io says will allow collaborators to work from anywhere with photographers, instead of having to be on location.

Camera to Cloud is a huge time saver, with automatic cloud backups available without having to manually upload files. It is also a safe backup option for those who have problems with their SD cards such as data corruption.

For print-oriented outlets, RAW photos from Fujifilm, Canon, Nikon, Panasonic, and Sony will display on Frame.io in the correct aspect ratio and in CMYK instead of sRGB for better workflow and better print management.

Online collaboration should also get easier, with improvements implemented for comments and annotations on images, and similar PDF adjustments expected soon.

Finally, in an expression of its commitment to security, the Adobe-owned platform has added Forensic Watermarking to existing watermark ID and DRM encryption tools, which can create "invisible" pixel-level watermarks that don't they can be hidden or deleted.

A company statement reads: "Frame.io will provide maximum security for everything."
