Adobe strengthens Microsoft integration for document management and validation

Adobe is providing broader integration of its document management, tracking, and validation services into the Microsoft product ecosystem, including closer connections with Teams and Purview's information protection framework.

At Microsoft's annual Build software conference, Adobe announced a new single sign-on option for Acrobat for Teams, integration with Purview directly into the desktop version of Acrobat, and Microsoft Power Automation functionality that will allow users to perform tasks repetitive more easily with Acrobat Sign. , among other features.

Adobe also announced unified installation technology for all newly released features, meaning IT staff can deploy them across their organizations with relative ease, as well as achieving FedRAMP Moderate certification (a government security standard) and Sign Graph connectivity. , which means checking the signature status for things. such as sales contracts and incorporation is now faster.

Adobe also shared a technical preview version of recently acquired Frame.io Live Share, also in combination with Microsoft Teams. This feature, if and when it goes into production, could allow groups of workers to collaborate live on a document, discuss it through Teams, and review it interactively.

Remote work generates a new integration

The new feature sets are largely a response to the pandemic-induced rise in remote work, according to Adobe.

"Our new hybrid working reality has accelerated the shift from paper to digital, and no one can afford to be left behind," the company said in a statement.

IDC Research Director Steve Charbonnier said that hybrid work models require different methods of handling important documents: After all, remote employees can't just walk down the aisle to HR. H H. to obtain a new copy of a crucial form.

"The reason they're looking at this is... is it gives users a lot of flexibility in terms of automating their login processes," he said. "Everything is managed, correct audit trail attached."

Probably the most important part of Adobe's announcements today, according to Charbonnier, is the integration of Power Automate with Acrobat Sign: automating auditing of electronic signatures across the organization is a potentially powerful new feature.

“Overall there are a lot of great stages at all levels,” he said. "Even the Sign Graph connectors where they reduce health check time, that's a great feature to include. But Power Automate gives them much more robust abilities."
