(*7*) Sea of Thieves Season 7 release delayed to August

Rare has announced a slight delay to the start of Sea of Thieves Season 7 to ensure quality and avoid crunch.

(*7*) Announcement was made in a blog post (opens in a new tab) on the official Sea of Thieves website. In the post, executive producer Joe Neate explains that the ambitious nature of the Season 7 update means that "there's a lot of hidden work to be done behind the scenes" and that the "wide array of new stats to track 'a' requires a complex association between our gaming equipment, user interface and services to bring it to life.

“As we began to get closer to the originally set release date,” Neate wrote in the post, “it became apparent that things were getting hotter than we would have liked and there was a real risk of not delivering the quality and the polish we expected. as well as undue pressure on the team to be complete." As a result, the season's release was pushed back to August 4.

Season 7's original release date was July 21, so pushing it back to August 4 is just a matter of a few more weeks of waiting. However, Neate acknowledges in the post that Season 6 "has been a long one" given that it began in March of this year.

"We understand this will be disappointing for those of you eagerly awaiting this update," he wrote, "and we appreciate your patience with this change."

Neate closes the post by saying that developing a live service game like Sea of Thieves is "always a journey where we learn new things every day," adding that "we feel the decision to move this version is absolutely the right one to deliver the best experience for all of you, while making sure we continue to operate with a healthy and sustainable approach.

What will season 7 bring?

August and Season 7 will also bring the game's next story-based adventure, A Hunter's Cry, on August 18. time.

Sea of Thieves can be played on Xbox One, Xbox Series X, Xbox Series S, and PC players. (*7*) game is also available on Xbox Game Pass.
