5 PS5 restocking mistakes I see making every day - and how to buy it
I became something of a PS5 2021 restocking expert, helping almost 20.000 people find the Sony console in stock by tweeting when and where to buy it. Sometimes I can also tell everyone ahead of time, which gives my Twitter followers a huge advantage. But every day I see the same bugs stopping people from buying the PlayStation console they want, whether it's the $5 PS499 Disc or the $5 PS399 Digital Edition. You don't have to follow my PS5 restocking advice, However, you need to know how to increase your odds as PS5 stocks are still low in the US. Here are the biggest mistakes I see every day, and how to buy the console while avoiding the same mistakes as everyone else.

1. Follow a Twitter tracker and turn on notifications

It has become obvious, at least to my 500.000 new subscribers in the last 80 days: follow @mattswider on Twitter and enable notifications. Why? Why each PS5 replenishment only lasts three minutes when the Add to Cart button is not released (some retailers like Walmart, Best Buy, Target, and GameStop require you to try this Add to Cart button over and over again for 30 minutes, but Antonline opens the doors and it lasts less than three minutes, there is where we get that number).

Over 500 people got the PS5/Xbox Series X today thanks to my alerts, mostly from Walmart; some from Best Buy. I was limited to 2 waves (not a two hour 12 wave marathon) 🎁If you got it: stick with me for Amazon Prime Day deals + freebies⏱️If you haven't: I'll continue to cover rejects 24/7 weekdays https: / /t.co/qWaBXvm8RY May 6, 2021 Learn More This means you'll have very little time to act, with millions of people still wanting the PS5 console and hundreds of thousands to try with every restock. Many will enter, few will leave with a "W". By enabling notifications, a push notification will be sent to your phone as soon as you tweet about a PS5 restock.

2. Avoid PS5 restock scams

Every day, and unfortunately this is not an exaggeration, someone finds my PS5 repost Twitter account a few minutes too late. They tell me they may have been scammed by a Twitter account posing as a ``verified'' PlayStation dealer. The account often has thousands of followers (these followers are fake) and in rare cases the fraudulent account is even verified by Twitter (either they bought or hacked a verified Twitter account). I was never able to tell the insecure victim that it was not a scam. It's a PS5 restock scam every time.

(Image credit: Matt Swider/Twitter) No one is eager to sell you the world's most modern technology for just $550, a markup of just $50. First, state sales tax usually drives the final price of the PS5 comes close to, and in some cases slightly higher than, this $550 starting price (depending on where you live in the US), and shipping costs aren't factored in the scammer would . They would actually lose money in the end... if they had the console. In addition to having thousands of fake subscribers, the fraudulent accounts have a network of people 'guaranteeing' them by thanking them for shipping the console out for such a low price (these are all fake accounts, as are the images they receive of the console - probably taken from Twitter or Google Images). The criminals went so far as to write the victim's name on a piece of paper and record a video "proving" that the console is intended for them (but that console will never be shipped).

3. People give up too quickly

If I had € 3 for every time someone replied to my PS5 Twitter account with the words Agotado '' o it's already gone ''when the console wasn't completely sold out, I'd be a millionaire right now. He did the math.

🚨PS5 is restocking NOW at Walmart Even if it's sold out, keep going! PS5 Digital (€399) https://t.co/znn5fqVNI1PS5 Disc (€499) https://t.co/fOQxCworac https://t. co/UwF8gMtQkD Mar 4, 2021 Learn More What a lot of people don't realize is that most retailers are releasing the PS5 in waves. This requires spamming the Add to Cart button over and over again and, in the case of all retailers except Best Buy, refreshing the page and trying again and again until you have the PlayStation 5 in your cart and pay for it. The funny thing is, after this flood of "out of stock" responses, other people will respond to the alerts with "just received" 15 minutes later. Stick with it, and you'll be forced to walk away with a PS5 when everyone else gives up. If it says "out of stock" and you give up, you won't get it.

4. Not knowing that every PS5 resupply is different

My PS5 Restock Tracker features more than a dozen stores across the United States, including major retailers like Amazon, Walmart, Target, and Best Buy. Smaller retailers include Newegg, Antonline, Costco (limited to members only), and Sony Direct (the official PlayStation brand store). We've even seen a rare restock at B&H Photo and Kohl's when they have an odd batch, but only once in the last three months. Every retailer is different, and the best advice I have is to try them all and watch Jake Randall's video tutorials on how to buy the PS5 at stores like Target when we know it's available. For example, it's much easier to pay with PayPal instead of browsing the usual credit card pages on the Target website. Because? Because all of Target's servers are affected during the replenishment process, while Paypal takes you to their own servers to process the payment.

5. Ask me before making a purchase.

I don't get every message, especially if the questions have been answered in my FAQ (below). I usually don't mind if people refuse to read what's in front of them, but they still require individual attention. I receive too many messages. But I always give priority to anyone who needs help and I can say that I have already read all my stuff on Twitter. I'm trying to get to a thousand posts a day so please read everything and ask me. I am here to help you. < p lang="en" dir="ltr">🔔Walmart was only 2 waves BUT Sony Direct might be next at ~5pmEDT. By using Instagram Stories, I can answer questions publicly, reducing a lot of the repeated questions people have about insuring a console in 2021.
