Microsoft has quashed speculation that it might move away from dedicated gaming hardware after the launch of Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S on November 10, 2020. Phil Spencer, head of Xbox, told Yahoo! He finances that the company won't be ditching gaming hardware anytime soon, despite the gaming industry's continued shift to digital and streaming. "As far as future hardware, I absolutely think we'll see more console hardware down the road," Spencer said. “Just like video, just like music, it's not like streaming has disrupted device innovation. I think we'll continue to see this, and that's absolutely what we anticipate. Microsoft's approach to the next generation revolved around creating as many avenues for gamers into the Xbox ecosystem as possible, rather than just pushing a single piece of hardware. The Xbox Series X is the company's flagship product and commands a steep price tag of $499 / £449 / AU$749. The Xbox Series S, on the other hand, is a more affordable, but less powerful digital alternative, and sells for €299 / €249 / €499. Microsoft has also launched its cloud gaming service for Android, which allows gamers to stream more than 100 games to mobile devices. The service is not yet available on iOS, after Apple claimed it violated the company's terms of service.
