The decision was made in response to a community vote on a proposal by the foundation of contributor Molly White, who calls herself GorillaWarfare, arguing that accepting donations in cryptocurrencies such as bitcoin, bitcoin cash and ether signals support for digital currencies, which they are "inherently predatory" as investments and do not align with the foundation's commitment to environmental sustainability.
