Ubisoft+ could finally come to Xbox Series X soon

After months of waiting, we finally learned that Ubisoft's subscription service, Ubisoft+, could be coming to Xbox consoles soon.

Currently available on PC, Ubisoft previously announced that Ubisoft+ would be coming to Xbox consoles in January alongside the announcement that Rainbow Six Extraction would launch on Xbox Game Pass. Providing over 100 games like Assassin's Creed Valhalla and Watch Dogs Legion, this service gives subscribers day-one access to games and DLC, starting at $14.99/$12.99 per month.

Now, thanks to an Xbox Store back-end datamine, we've learned that it may launch soon on Xbox consoles. Just keep in mind that unlike EA's subscription service, EA Play will not be part of Xbox Game Pass or Xbox Game Pass Ultimate. By releasing it as a separate service, Ubisoft's exact plans remain unclear. While PC subscribers can include cloud gaming through Google Stadia for an additional cost, it's unclear if Ubisoft will pursue a similar deal with Xbox Cloud Gaming.

The partnership between Ubisoft and Microsoft remains strong

We've seen a growing partnership between Microsoft and Ubisoft over the past year, with even Ubisoft + Classics also coming to PS Plus. While the French publisher is clearly focused on its own subscription service, that hasn't stopped Xbox Game Pass from getting more games from Ubisoft.

On Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, PC, and Xbox Cloud Gaming, the big names this year have turned to Microsoft's service. Assassin's Creed Origins, For Honor, and Ghost Recon Wildlands all appeared in 2022, while Immortals Fenyx Rising joins them on August 30.

Hopefully, it won't be long before we hear something official about Ubisoft's Xbox plans. In addition to an appearance at Gamescom 2022 this week, Ubisoft previously announced that it would host a Ubisoft Forward presentation (opens in a new tab) on September 10. Given the timing of this leak, we'd be very surprised if there were no events providing news.
