TeamViewer joins the video conferencing train

TeamViewer is perhaps best known for its remote desktop software, but the company also has its own video conferencing solution that can be used to keep in touch with colleagues while working from home. Until now, TeamViewer Meeting (formerly known as Blizz) was a standalone app that could be used to make unlimited end-to-end encrypted video calls on desktop and mobile devices. To make its video conferencing software more accessible, the company integrated TeamViewer Meeting directly into TeamViewer so that users can now start meetings with a single click without having to install any additional software. TeamViewer's director of product management, Christoph Schneider, provided additional information in a press release about the company's decision to integrate video conferencing into its remote desktop software, saying: "Due to the global need for reliable digital communication and secure and online meeting capabilities, we are committed to providing every TeamViewer user with easy-to-use meeting functionality directly in their TeamViewer client. There is a growing demand for end-to-end encryption of video conferencing and screen sharing solutions following strict data protection and privacy regulations within the European Union. "

Video conferencing in TeamViewer

TeamViewer client-integrated meetings are fully compatible with the company's standalone TeamViewer Meeting product so customers can use the software that best suits their needs. End-to-end encrypted VoIP meetings can also be held on mobile devices using the TeamViewer Meeting app for iOS and Android. TeamViewer's video conferencing solution also allows users to start instant meetings directly from their contact list and these meetings support HD quality video as well as screen sharing across multiple 4K displays. Users can even record meetings and lock them with passwords for added privacy and security. Subscribers to TeamViewer's paid plans also have access to phone numbers that can be used to join a meeting over the phone. However, a meeting host can disable this feature to prevent someone from accidentally signing in. The new TeamViewer meeting experience can now be accessed from the existing TeamViewer client. It should be noted that participants will be limited to five for non-paying users, while business clients will be able to host meetings with up to ten participants. However, optional packages allow users to expand the size of their meetings up to 50, 100 or 300 attendees.
