Stadia could work on Xbox soon
Google's maligned streaming service Stadia will soon be playable on Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S via the consoles' Edge browser, which will soon be updated to the Chromium version. Testers of Xbox's Alpha Skip-Ahead group can now access this much higher version of Edge (thanks, The Verge), and while it doesn't yet have full mouse and keyboard support, it does. It's still a considerably better browser than the version it replaces. One of the benefits of upgrading Edge to the Chromium-based version on Xbox is that you'll be able to play Google Stadia through it. However, it's worth arguing that Microsoft is already making its own game streaming service a much more tempting proposition. Xbox Game Pass Ultimate subscribers get access to Xbox cloud gaming on Android devices, and the service will soon be available on Windows 10 PCs and iPhones via browser support. This means that you will soon be able to play Microsoft's cloud gaming service on Xbox through the new version of Edge once it is available. One big advantage of playing on Stadia, of course, is that games will run above 720p, which is the maximum resolution on Xbox game streaming currently. Microsoft has reportedly tested 1080p streaming, but Google Stadia has the ability to output 4K resolution for some titles, as long as you pay for Stadia Pro. However, Google is being sued for allegedly failing to deliver on this promise.

Game of value

However, Stadia really suffers from the fact that you don't have to buy separate games with Microsoft's Xbox cloud gaming, and the library on offer is arguably more appealing than what you'll find on Google's service. Several games have also been updated to support touchscreen controls, which means you won't need to connect an Xbox controller via Bluetooth to play.
