Spotify quietly tests an Instagram-style storytelling feature for artists
With the success of Snapchat's "stories" feature, it's no surprise that other social media platforms like Instagram, Facebook, Messenger, and even Twitter have jumped on the move, some of which have even surpassed the popularity of creators. . Now it's Spotify's turn to try the ephemeral narrative approach, the music streaming platform quietly testing a feature it calls Storyline.

The plot appears under a song's transport commands and, once you've scanned it, provides a preview from the artists themselves. It's above or below the "Behind the Lyrics" section, which contains lyrics and information from Spotify's partner, Genius. Unlike Behind the Words, Storyline allows users to flip through the cards at their own pace and not to the beat of the music. This is also information provided directly by the artist to Spotify, although no submission tool appears in the service artist's dashboard, indicating that only certain artists currently have the privilege. This feature appears in select user mobile apps on iOS and Android (but not desktop at this time) in various territories, though there's no official word on exactly who has been selected. There's no guarantee that the Storyline feature will be permanently rolled out to the audience, but if the tests are successful, we'll likely see more artists using the service to communicate directly with their fans.
