Spotify launches audiobooks to dethrone Amazon's Audible

Spotify has started to implement audiobook support for users in the United States.

A new section of the Spotify app will allow subscribers (premium or not) to access a catalog of more than 300 audiobook titles, with each book available for purchase or preview through web pages outside of the app itself .

Purchased audiobooks will appear alongside users' music and podcasts in their libraries, searches, and recommendations on Home, while titles that haven't yet been purchased will appear with a lock icon on their respective play buttons.

Listeners can download content for offline listening, and Spotify's auto-bookmark feature will save their spot so they can easily pick up where they left off. Speed ​​control is also included, with a variety of options to speed up or slow down the pace of an audiobook.

"We're excited to launch Audiobooks with a completely new, purpose-built user interface. listen to audiobooks and seamlessly integrate them with the music and podcasts you already listen to and love," Spotify executive Nir Zicherman announced in a recent interview.
