Shang-Chi now has a Disney Plus release date, but that's later than expected.

Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings will launch on Disney Plus on November 12, it was revealed, and will be available to all subscribers. The launch will come as part of Disney Plus Day, an event designed to spark interest in the streaming service's future, just as it celebrates its two-year anniversary in the United States, and as a fee, yearly subscriptions are inevitable. spot. Smart, right? Shang-Chi is just a highlight of a busy day, with the current Premier Access title Jungle Cruise streaming to all subscribers that day as well. It will also debut a new Pixar short film, the sequel to Luca Ciao Alberto, as well as a new series of Frozen shorts called Olaf Presents. What's more interesting is that there are two special looks lined up for Marvel and Star Wars on this day: the Star Wars one will focus on The Boba Fett Book, while the Marvel one will look at the MCU. Given that the Hawkeye TV show launched on November 24, we'd expect this to be a big part of that presentation, but a new look at Ms. Marvel also seems likely. Disney is expected to reveal more information ahead of the event in the weeks leading up to it. Still, it's worth circling November 12 on your timeline to see what the deal is; we may find out more about new Disney Plus shows coming up in 2022, like Obi-Wan Kenobi. For subscribers outside of the US, it looks like Star content will be featured to some extent as well: The Michael Keaton series Dopesick is an integral part of the Disney Plus Day lineup, launching on Hulu in the US. Analysis: Shang-Chi will arrive later than expected

Disney previously confirmed that Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings would have a 45-day theatrical release window, meaning it could have hit Disney Plus as late as October. It always seemed very early, so making subscribers wait a little longer isn't much of a surprise. A wait of just over two months is quite reasonable, actually, given that we live in a time of waiting months for a movie to land on DVD. You can also preserve the value of the movie on the big screen. While Shang-Chi is one of the MCU's worst performers at the box office, this is quite expected amid an ongoing pandemic, and on top of that, earning €306 million means he won't be far behind. If you want to stay up to date on all things Marvel by the time Eternals opens on November 5th, you'll need to go see Shang-Chi at the theater.
