Marvel's Daredevil Reportedly Has a New Series on Disney Plus

O glorious day! It looks like "The Man Without Fear" will finally return to our screens in the near future, with Variety reporting that a new Daredevil series is currently in the works on Disney Plus.

According to the report, the new Daredevil series will be written and executive produced by Matt Corman and Chris Ord, known for their work on shows like Covert Affairs and Containment, though the duo's management declined to comment on the matter.

Marvel's Daredevil already enjoyed three successful seasons on Netflix before being unceremoniously canceled in 2018 along with every other Marvel show from the streaming giant at the time.

As for this new series, actor Charlie Cox is set to reprise his role as Matt Murdock, the blind lawyer who takes a second job as the vigilante fighter Daredevil, as is Vincent D'Onofrio, who played the villainous Mr. Wilson Fisk, better known as the Kingpin. . .

Daredevil in the MCU: what to expect

Although Netflix's Marvel Adventures have always taken place alongside the Marvel Cinematic Universe, its characters never really crossed over into the MCU proper until the arrival of the Kingpin in the first season of Hawkeye. This was followed almost immediately by Matt Murdock's brief appearance as Peter Parker's lawyer in Spider-Man: No Way Home.

Rumors of a new Daredevil series on Disney Plus began to surface soon after, with Cox himself stating that he wanted a rematch of Daredevil and Wilson Fisk in the MCU.

If Variety's report is to be believed (and it probably should be, given how reliable the long-running publication is), Cox will surely get a chance to don the garb of Daredevil and resume his criminal duties.

That said, we suspect that Disney's version of Daredevil will be a lot less violent and brutal than the one that debuted on Netflix, and Hawkeye's much less threatening version of the Kingpin character (who was last seen in a goofy white suit and a Hawaiian shirt). bow).

In truth, that strikes us as a reasonable compromise - it's entirely possible for Daredevil to engage in brilliantly staged fight scenes without reveling in blood and guts, and softening the character will allow him to more easily interact with other MCU heroes, could the team by Matt Murdock? with his fellow lawyer She-Hulk on a case? It seems likely!

Plus, it would also open up the show's creators to Daredevil comics outside of the usual Frank Miller/Brian Michael Bendis orbit, like Mark Waid's absolutely fantastic series from 2011-2014, which was much closer in tone to what we've seen. seen in the MCU.

That said, nothing has been confirmed at this time, so we'll have to wait for either Marvel or Disney to make an official announcement.
