The inaugural season of American horror creator Ryan Murphy's latest adventure, Ratched, informed as much as it entertained, and we hope Ratched season 2 does the same. While it's every bit as bloody and exciting as we've come to expect from Murphy's larger-than-life worlds, Sarah Paulson's understated and haunting portrayal of the brutally brilliant nurse Mildred Ratched has left us wanting more. Netflix subscribers seem to agree: 48 million subscribers watched Ratched Season 1, making it the streaming service's biggest TV show of 2020. Ratched Season 2 is therefore highly anticipated. Closing out this first season on an agonizing cliffhanger, all thoughts now turn to when we next see Ratched in action. Beyond confirming that a new series is on the way, Murphy and co-creator Evan Romansky have been coy about what to expect from the people we met at Lucia State Hospital, but to save you from you. Ratched season 2 confirmed
Netflix didn't do well in securing Murphy's latest project. The initial order in 2017 was for two seasons, not just the one we've seen, so a second is definitely on the way. Like the first, it will also have nine episodes. Interestingly, Paulson, who plays the title character, hinted on Elle.com that there may be more to come, though that has yet to be officially confirmed. "We're definitely doing a second season, but if we were to continue, the plan would be to do about four seasons," he revealed. "And in season four, we find ourselves in the era of the cuckoo's nest."
Ratched Season 2 Release Date: When To Expect It

(Image credit: Netflix) There's no confirmed release date for Ratched season 2, and given planning issues caused by the ongoing coronavirus pandemic, even early production plans could be pushed back further. We know Paulson will be back at work soon - more on that below - but since he's explicitly confirmed that he's not in the second series of Ratched, it's safe to assume we'll be seeing Ratched season 2. later than before. With filming unlikely to begin until early next year, we likely won't see Ratched Season 2 on Netflix until late 2021 at the earliest. Ratched Season 2 Plot: What Do We Know So Far?
Honestly? Not much, and that also includes the actors. Speaking to Variety recently, Paulson revealed that while she's "going back to work soon," she "isn't in Ratched," adding that "nobody knows anything about Season 2." "I'm as curious as anyone about what's going to happen in Season 2," added Cynthia Nixon, who plays Ratched's lover, Gwendolyn Briggs. In an interview with OprahMag.com, she hinted that she was "sure there's a lot of pathos and pain ahead." That being said, however, Paulson has revealed the direction she'd like her lead role to travel in, as well as things she wouldn't want to explore in later series, which we suspect will bring Mildred's story to life. "I think it would not have been interesting for me to explore the parts of Mildred Ratched that are not porous," Paulson told Variety. “In the movie, it's calcified, there's a hardness, nothing comes out, and I remember when I first saw the movie thinking it was absolutely bad and bad and all that. "And then when I saw her again before I started, I was like, you know this is a woman who is a victim of a patriarchal infrastructure in this hospital, and we could consider that she didn't have a choice in whether she can access her heart in her own way, if you can put your femininity and femininity into practice.
Ratched season 2 cast: who we hope to return to

However, with the two-year jump right at the end of Season 1, there's plenty of time for these characters to succumb to various illnesses and injuries along the way, especially as we're wrapped up in this shocking and deadly revelation. We probably won't see the Ratched we know from One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest
In her chat with Elle, Paulson hinted that despite the show extending beyond the currently confirmed two seasons, she doesn't think we'll see her playing Ratched That Terrified Us in One Flew Over the Cuckoo's. Nest. "I don't think we'll ever end up in the hospital unless it's before McMurphy's admission, unless it's before all these patients are there. Unless you want to see Danny DeVitos and CG Jack Nicholsons playing me , which, I don't know if that's the way to do it. McMurphy, of course, is the character played by Nicholson in the 1975 Miloš Forman film that inspired the show. “We have an ending. There is an end to the story as we know it culturally," Paulson told OprahMag. "But very little is known about Mildred Ratched in the movie and the book. There's nothing about her past. She's a monolith. It's almost as if she wasn't really a person.Expect to see Ratched further deconstructed in Season 2, as one of the big bad villains goes one step further to fully inhabit the character he will ultimately become.
