Soon you will be able to edit tweets on Twitter: this is how

Twitter has confirmed that edited tweets are being tested and will be rolled out to select Twitter Blue followers in a few weeks.

Edited tweets are something of a holy grail for some Twitter users – we've all been in a situation on the platform where we've quickly tweeted something, but there's a huge typo. But by the time we realize that, it's too late to remove it.

The edited tweets seek to change that, with Twitter explaining in a blog post - opens in a new tab - how the feature will work. With that in testing, this may change, but for now the test will allow users to edit a tweet for up to 30 minutes, with a tag that the tweet has been edited.

A user can also click on it and view the tweet history, so you can play a recording of what the tweet originally looked like for clarity.

if you see an edited tweet it's because we're testing the edit button, it's happening and you'll be fine Sep 1, 2022

A small group is currently testing this feature, due to the magnitude of how edited tweets can alter someone's Twitter feed, so a time limit of, say, 30 minutes could be made shorter or longer, depending on feedback.

The company explained that it will roll out to select Twitter Blue (opens in a new tab) subscribers in the coming weeks, but with this subscription service only available in the US, Canada, Australia and New Zealand. the UK and other countries will miss the test.

Either way, seeing more confirmation that edited tweets are being worked on and available for testing soon is a welcome sight, and could be the biggest change in the way someone uses Twitter in recent years.
