For a monthly or yearly fee, just like Netflix for games. There are a host of game subscription services out there, from PS Now, which lets you stream PS2, PS3, and PS4 games to PS5, PS4, and PC, to Nintendo Switch Online, which provides access to online multiplayer and online multiplayer. which includes NES and SNES titles. But there's one game subscription service that beats them all: Xbox Game Pass Ultimate. Xbox Game Pass Ultimate is currently the king of game subscriptions, offering access to over 100 top-rated games, access to online multiplayer, and more. Plus, we hope you get a discount as part of the Xbox Series X Black Friday deals.
Why is Xbox Game Pass Ultimate so good?
(Image credit: 343 Industries) So what makes Xbox Game Pass Ultimate the father of game subscription services? Well, it's mainly the amount of content and features it contains. With an Xbox Game Pass Ultimate subscription, you get (full) access to over 100 games in the Xbox Game Pass library on PC and console, access to proprietary Xbox games coming to the library on day one, access to games in the Xbox cloud, exclusive member discounts and offers, and included Xbox Live Gold, which provides access to online multiplayer and offers a handful of free games to download and keep each month. Let's analyze each of these elements. For starters, the Xbox Game Pass library is packed with games to play, from Xbox 360 games to the latest Xbox exclusives, with new games being added all the time. In addition, it gives access to EA Play titles such as FIFA 21 and Knockout City. The biggest draw to the Xbox Game Pass library, though, is that new proprietary Xbox titles are arriving on day one. This means that when Halo Infinite arrives in December, Xbox Game Pass subscribers will be able to play it immediately as part of their membership. That's fantastic value, considering that a yearly subscription to Xbox Game Pass Ultimate costs around $139.99 / $194.59 (although three-month and monthly subscriptions are available, more on that below), and an Xbox-exclusive remake, which includes Halo, it's around $60/$50. At least with the subscription, you get a lot of games for your money, as well as the ability to play them on mobile thanks to Ultimate's cloud gaming feature (although it's currently in beta).
